12 Things I Do When There Is No Power

For September 15,2015

With the advent of electricity, almost everything we do revolves around using electrical powers. From watching the television, to cooking our food, and even the simplest, to give light in the dark. But I wonder what people do when the electricity is out? Hmmm! Well, allow me to share 12 things I do when there is no power.

1. I sleep. Sleeping has always been my favorite thing to do since I reached college. Haha. Nothing beats a good sleep.
2. I just sit and make muni-muni. :) I have nothing else to say. LOL.
3. I sing so loud that it becomes like a scream. Haha. What? My tatay usually scolds me when I do this. Haha.
4. I play with my siblings and laugh so hard that the neighbors can hear us giggle. Tatay gets easily irritated with the way I laugh but kebs! I go on laughing until I get tired. Haha. [Hyper]
5. If I feel productive, I wash my clothes and clean my room. I really hate chores but when I feel like cleaning, I will really clean. Haha. Makes sense? -.-
6.  I do selfie in front of the mirror. Ow!!! [Vain mode activate]
7. I sing in front of the mirror. I use my hair brush as a microphone and voala! I'm a superstar!
8. I read??? Hahaha. I don't know if it's considered reading but I skim through any book I see. I'm not a reader you know. I hate myself. -.-
9. I go out of the house and stroll on the front yard. I don't go anywhere else outside the house mainly because I don't want people to see me and the other thing is, I just don't feel like going out. -.- Hahaha.
10. I eat. Anything in the fridge is a choice but if nothing's in the fridge, I sleep. Haha. What? Yuh, that's what I do.
11. I drink coffee. I good cup of coffee really makes me happy. Coffee person here! Yeah. xD
12. I do any one or two of the things I mentioned above. Hahaha.

FamILY

Love them and let them know
Before your life is through.
Show them how much they mean to you,
And never let them go.

Tough times may come,
And life may disappoint you.
Pain may come,
And sorrow confronts you.

Testings may beat
And waves of problems hit.
But we are stronger than ever
That no one can separate.

I am so blessed,
To have a family like you.
For the love and care,
I thank you!

* I have the best family in the world and I thank God for such a blessing!

Reminiscing Memories

For September 11, 2015

I'm speechless! Haha. Everytime I look at this photo, it reminds me of the time when I was still in TN. The bond is extraordinary. We're like a family. We share each others happiness and sadness. These people are some of the most dear ones to me. Now that we've gone our separate ways, the bond that we've shared still remains the same. Oh how I miss these people. How I miss TN. :)

I have nothing more to add. Haha. That's it for now. :)

Goodbye, My Love

For September 10, 2015

Three months have passed
Since you left.
Didn't know where you went,
Clueless of why.

I always think and reminisce
The moments we both shared.
The times you made me smile,
And the fun we had together.

Until now,
You are still in my mind.
Still in my memory
I can't seem to forget

Goodbye my little baby
Goodbye my baby Oreo.
You are always remembered,
You are always in my heart.

Good vs. Evil

For September 9, 2015

Good versus evil. Do they truly exist? Well, if you ask me, I would say yeah they do. It is clearly stated in the bible. God is the good one while Satan is the evil one. For once, Satan, who was once named Lucifer, was a good angel. But when he started to think he can do better and can be more powerful than God, God threw him to the lake of fire/ hell and punished him for all eternity. God, on the other hand is blameless and perfect and rules the heavens above.

In our world today, people who are righteous are considered the good ones while those who do the opposite are the bad ones. But we should also consider that no matter how righteous and upright we think we may be, we still have this evil side lurking within us. I believe that this has always been designed this way to teach us how to control both our good and bad side. Sadly, some people failed to understand the real essence of these things that they forget who they are already.

Until now, both continue to exist. It's up to us to choose where we want to side.

The Most Beautiful Smile I Ever Saw

For September 8, 2015

In my opinion, a smile is the best asset a person can have. It brings joy to someone looking at it.

I'm pretty sure we've already seen smiles that brought joy to our gloomy hearts. Like you, a lot of smiles have also already inspired me; smiles of pure happiness, smiles of love, and smiles of victory and success. But the best smile I ever saw was that of my sister's when she received and was conferred the Latin honor Magna Cum Laude during their graduation rites in college. You could really see from her smile how thankful and happy she was for the award she received. Seeing her smile genuinely just makes me smile as well and this I consider the best smile I ever saw.

Overcome Your Fears

For September 7, 2015

Fear has always been a dreaded thing since then. You may choose to agree or disagree but that's how I see it. Nobody likes to fear for anything. Nobody likes to live in fear either. But no matter how hard we try to avoid it, it will always be around us.

Fear, as defined by Oxford Dictionary is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm or a feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something or the safety  of someone. With this definition, we can say that fear is a built-in 'program' within our system that is triggered when we are threatened by something unpleasant that involves us or some people dear to us. What's worse is that when we fear, it hinders us from moving forward. It stops us from accomplishing our mission.

Fear comes in so many different ways. It may be fear of losing someone important to us, fear of death, fear of being rejected, and others. But just how can we control fear and stop it from completely taking over our lives?

Isaiah 40:10 says 'Don't be afraid for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand" (NLT). The answer is here. We can control fear from taking over by entrusting our lives to God. Yes! Fear is inevitable. But God is telling us through this verse to not worry about anything for He will be there to protect us. He says that we should not fear for He is our God. This is the silver lining. As long as we shall live, fear will continue to exist. It will continue to lurk in the dark and watch for weak spirits to be its next victims. But as long  as God is on our side, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Stand firm. Overcome your fears before it controls you.

The Adventure of a Lifetime

For September 4, 2015

I am a homebody. I don't go out a lot. I only go to other places when it's a necessity or a school requirement. I prefer to stay home, eat, and watch movies. But despite that, I still have this dream of going to other places outside the island. I also want to experience and see different places which I only see in the television, internet, or in the magazines. I've had the chance to travel to Iloilo since my father is from that place but only during Christmas or Summer Holidays. Aside from that, I've never been to any other places outside Negros Island.

I was greatly overjoyed when our teacher in our Creative Writing class announced that we will be having an island tour in Siquijor,a small island in Visayas famously known as the Isla del Fuego or Island of Black Magic.

Our trip was sheduled on the last week of August so we had all the time to prepare for the money and the things we will be needing.

August 28, 2015, 7:47 Am. The adventure starts now.

We bought our tickets for the 8:00 o'clock trip and of course took some groufie with my colleagues and teacher. I was a bit anxious at first because I usually get sea sick but it was later on replaced with the feeling of ecxitement for I was about to have the adventure of a lifetime.

Good bye Dumaguete for now! See you again in 2 days. :-)

Two hours later...
Hello Siquijor! I didn't expect this Island to be this beautiful. I was amazed to see the white sand beaches for the first time. Yeah! Though tired from the long trip, I still managed to look at the beautiful scenery and appreciated how God had wonderfully created such place.

Exhausted from the trip, we immediately proceeded to the house where we will be staying for three days.

August 29, 2015.
Today was the big day. We will be visiting some of the cool places in Siquijor which means, ROAD TRIP!!!

First stop, the Enchanted Balete Tree. I don't know how old this tree was but it was big. It even had a small pond below it where you can have a fish spa. Cool!

Next, Cambugahay Falls. At first I had my mind fixed to not swim or wet myself but who could resist the inviting water and the vine swing? Hahaha. It was such a great adventure. We had to walk a "thousand" steps just to reach Cambugahay Falls but it was all worth it.

There I am! The one wearing yellow. I was so tired so I had to stop. Haha. I was also very wet. LOL.
Next, we visited this old Catholic church in Lazi. It was cool!

Finally, we went to this awesome resort -- Salagdoong Beach Resort. The entrance fee is very affordable yet the place is really nice. The sea water looks so relaxing and the view was fantastic.

These are my colleagues. They smile at any camera pointed at them. Oh, and that includes me. Haha.

Since Ma'am Bev required us to have a "photoshoot", my partner (Lovely) and I decided to have it there. I had to choose three best shots and here they are:

Our theme was actually candid so all the angles I chose were somewhat "not scripted" but in reality it was all scripted. Haha.

This photo was taken on an abadoned guest house I guess. The walls and the lights were cool so I thought it'd be better to take some shots of her here. Well I didn't have a problem at all because Lovely looks good in any angle.

This next photo was taken on the northern side of the resort (if I am not mistaken). Who knew we were still wet when we took our photoshoot? Haha.

Lastly, this. Though Lovely's face was not very clear, I just love the effect of the silhouette on the walls and the lights with the sky and sea as background.

After this amazing time we had at Salagdoong Beach, we had to pack our stuffs and head back home. We were all tired and wet but we had a great great time.

Sadly, our adventure had to end the next day. We will surely miss this place but hopefully, we can come back and have some more adventure on this island next time. We will be ever grateful for Carlo's family who wholeheartedly welcomed us in their humble abode.

Til we meet again Siquijor! :-)

Get Up and Bar the Door

For September 2, 2015

IT fell about the Martinmas time,
And a gay time it was then,
When our good wife got puddings to make,
And she’s boild them in the pan.

The wind sae cauld blew south and north,        5
  And blew into the floor;
Quoth our goodman to our goodwife,
“Gae 1 out and bar the door.”

“My hand is in my hussyfskap, 2
Goodman, as ye may see;        10
An it shoud nae be barrd this hundred year,
It’s no be barrd for me.”

They made a paction tween them twa,
They made it firm and sure,
That the first word whaeer shoud speak,        15
Shoud rise and bar the door.

Then by there came two gentlemen,
  At twelve o’clock at night,
And they could neither see house nor hall,
  Nor coal nor candle-light.        20

“Now whether is this a rich man’s house,
Or whether is it a poor?”
But neer a word wad ane o them speak,
  For barring of the door.

And first they ate the white puddings,        25
  And then they ate the black;
Tho muckle thought the goodwife to hersel,
Yet neer a word she spake.

Then said the one unto the other,
“Here, man, tak ye my knife;        30
Do ye tak aff the auld man’s beard,
  And I’ll kiss the goodwife.”

“But there’s nae water in the house,
And what shall we do than?”
“What ails thee at the pudding-broo, 3        35
  That boils into the pan?”

O up then started our goodman,
  An angry man was he:
“Will ye kiss my wife before my een,
  And scad 4 me wi pudding-bree?”        40

Then up and started our goodwife,
Gied three skips on the floor:
“Goodman, you’ve spoken the foremost word,
Get up and bar the door.”

Bonsai

For September 1, 2015

By Edith Tiempo

All that I love
I fold over once
And once again
And keep in a box
Or a slit in a hollow post
Or in my shoe.

All that I love?
Why, yes, but for the moment-
And for all time, both.
Something that folds and keeps easy,
Son’s note or Dad’s one gaudy tie,
A roto picture of a queen,
A blue Indian shawl, even
A money bill.

It’s utter sublimation,
A feat, this heart’s control
Moment to moment
To scale all love down
To a cupped hand’s size

Till seashells are broken pieces
From God’s own bright teeth,
And life and love are real
Things you can run and
Breathless hand over
To the merest child.

The Road Not Taken

For August 31, 2015
By Robert Frost
TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
